Kabuki performers from Japan, Yukiji Asaoka, Nagare Hagiwara and Senyoichi Nishikawa, bring their art form to the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, Saturday, November 13, 2010, in a performance dubbed, Kabuki Renaissance.
Japanese actress, Yukiji Asaoka, plays a ghost that comes to life from a painting, and Nagare Hagiwara plays an unscrupulous art merchant.
In the first act, one actor applied makeup and dressed on stage to demonstrate to an American audience the intricacies of preparation for a kabuki role.
Kabuki actor, Senyoichi Nishikawa, dances the part of the puppet, Sanbasou.
As the second act closes, the audience watches attentively.
Japanese actress, Yukiji Asaoka, plays a ghost that comes to life from a painting, and Nagare Hagiwara plays an unscrupulous art merchant.
