Candles and flowers are left at the side of a parking lot in downtown San Rafael, California, on December 27, 2008, where the lifeless body of Ashley Yamauchi was found one week earlier. A note reads, "Ashley, We love you and will always miss you."

San Rafael police reported that Yamauchi died after a violent struggle and was found partially clad in the parking lot near Lincoln Avenue and Fourth Street. The police are still investigating the homicide, the sixth violent killing in Marin County in 2008.

The crime occured early in the morning on Tuesday, December 16, 2008. The lot is located behind the Fourth Street Tavern and other businesses and across the street from the bus depot at Fourth and Hetherton.
